Galliford Try has been chosen as preferred contractor on two student accommodation schemes totalling £102m.

The larger of the two jobs is the £62m Park View Student Village for Newcastle University, which will replace several existing 1970s buildings.

Spread across six buildings and ranging from four to 10 storeys in height, the student village will include 1,279 bedrooms.

Meanwhile Coventry University has selected Galliford Try for its £40m Godiva Place student building, which will include 770 student bedrooms as well as a support facilities and car and cycle parking space.

Galliford Try chief executive Peter Truscott said: “Higher education is a key sector for us and our success here in being selected for these contracts is a reflection of the capability we have demonstrated in producing high-quality accommodation and housing for a range of clients across the country.”
